How do I feel about running…
This morning was the first time in my life that I really went for a run. It’s funny because I have probably said “I went for a run” at least a hundred times in my life. Today was the day that I was able to feel like those corny running pictures I use to see on the internet and think “there’s no way running is this peaceful or fun”. Well, thank you life for proving me wrong once again. This morning I woke up at 6 am, with out any alarm clock. My body was hating me for my choice of my cheat meal last night (Nachos, a quesadilla and a frozen margarita). So I hopped out of bed, drank a coffee and set out on a mission.
I made it to the Tel Aviv tayellette around 7 am and started my run. I had Jay-Z blasting in my ear, my short shorts that my boyfriend hates (he was still sleeping so I was able to leave the house in them) and my newly insole padded sneakers. I always had an issue with my ankles, they go inward so after a minute or two of running my knees would start to hurt. I always used this as an excuse of why I can’t run, but as my health journey moves forward, my excuses disappear. Something that I use to think was a savior during gym class, ended up something I was willing to throw down lots of cash to fix. So me and my insoles glided down the beach line, with the beautiful ocean next to me and all the other morning running up and going. Small smiles were passed along but to me, they were secret communication for motivation. In my head I named us all the "7am club". It felt like I was part of a secret pack, a secret beauty that nobody gets to see unless they made it to the beach by 7 am. Tel Aviv is beautiful in every way. What else would be a better first run then getting to think with each step and each heavy breath, “wow I am so lucky to live here”.
I ran straight about 45 minutes, all the way to Jafo. I was damn proud. My knee started hurting a bit so I did on and off running and walking on the way back. I stopped at the outdoor gym after a hour and a half of cardio for a short HIT session. I did 15 push ups, 30 sit ups, and 10 burpees, twice!
Man, was I starving by the time I got home. I made my favorite, easiest breakfast. 2 eggs, ½ cup of kale and green onion omlette, with melted cottage cheese on top (don’t knock it before you try it). I had half a plum and 2 rice crackers as well. This full meal was only 244 calories, high in protein and low in carbs and fat! (Victory)
I ended my morning with a hot green tea and a hot shower.
Now I am looking forward to sitting on my couch!
